THE SOURCE

What is the source of life and meaning?  By what measure do we determine the importance of what we think, say and do?  For as long as humankind has recorded its activities and thoughts, these questions have alternately plagued and delighted us.

We present another journey some of you may be interested in taking.  One that repeatedly asks “why”, not exclusively “how” things should be.   To help with this somewhat troublesome concept of “why”, we begin with Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave.”

In this parable, Plato writes about prisoners chained inside a dark cave.  They cannot move any part of their body and only see shadows on a wall before them.  These shadows are cast by a light source outside the cave and are actually light distortions caused by puppeteers.  Since they were born, the prisoners have only known these shadows.

Since just about everything on this site is related to the use of media as a powerful catalyst for change, we present one interpretation and application of Plato’s Cave as depicted in the film trilogy - “The Matrix.”

We invite you to submit media you know of or have created yourself that may be of help in further exploring The Source of what we believe, see and do.  The purpose for this, as Plato suggested, is as follows:  those who happen to escape The Cave have a moral obligation to return and help their community escape from the shadows and the dark.

A few words of warning:  Don’t take any pills, just think about this as time allows after work or play.  While searching the skies, it is important to make certain your feet are somewhat firmly planted on the ground.  If you find yourself getting overwhelmed at times, then breathe.  It’s only life.

“But whether true or false, my opinion is that in the world of knowledge the idea of Good appears last of all, and is seen only with an effort...”
